Welcome!

I'm Edina, and this is my Project Portfolio.

I'm an experienced IT professional with background in Software Testing and IT Project Management and in the past few years I've been working on up-skilling / re-skilling (mostly technical skills) to better align with my professional aspirations and potential.

I'm currently studying Statistics and Data Science at MIT's MicroMasters program and hopefully I will soon be starting Computing & IT BSc at The Open University (credit transfer in progress).

About me

I moved with my husband and our 2 extremely indoor cats to Switzerland almost 6 years ago. Finding a job in IT Project Management in Switzerland when you don't have Banking / Finance Consulting / Medical IT experience is challenging to say the least. And it didn't happen. So I decided to start studying again.

I started with getting my PMP (PMI's Project Management Professional), then ITIL (IT Service Management), and then I picked Udemy courses and certifications on subjects that I considered as building blocks.

And so came SQL, Java and Python. What I like about certificates that can be achieved by passing a certain exam is that they always come with a syllabus, a set of things that you have to know for the given level. It's much easier to stay focused and manage your time that way, otherwise you might get lost in the deep end of certain topics while you miss out on some basic concepts. It's also a nice way to stay motivated and celebrate the little victories.

Earlier this year I enrolled in Massachusetts Institute of Technology's online Statistics and Data Science MicroMasters program. It's instructor-led (not self-paced), and there are lectures, exercises, homeworks and projects, with deadlines every week. I already passed the Probability course and now I'm working on the Machine Learning with Python course.

I'm also in the application and credit transfer process for The Open University's Computing and IT BSc.

Back in Hungary I studied Electrical Engineering, but as I started working in IT parallel to my studies I discovered that my true passion is not Electrical Engineering, and definitely not Building Automatization which I was assigned to major in (before you'd ask, my motivation at the beginning was nanotechnology). I often thought about going back to college, not to finish engineering but to do something more in line with my career, but financing a venture like that can be tricky. Hopefully now's the time.
