Hi! It's me, Edina.
I'm a former IT Project Manager and Software Tester.
I am currently pursuing a BSc in Computer Science as well as studying Statistics and Data Science.

— Quick Intro

A few years ago, my husband and I, along with our two cats, moved to Switzerland. Transitioning into IT Project Management here proved challenging without prior experience in Banking, Finance, Consulting, or Medical IT—fields highly valued in the Swiss job market. When the right opportunity didn't materialize, I decided to invest in further education and skill development.

I began by earning my PMP (Project Management Professional) certification, followed by ITIL (IT Service Management).

From there, I explored foundational topics through online courses and certificate programs, and earned certifications in SQL, Java, and Python.

In 2024, I enrolled in the Statistics and Data Science MicroMasters program at MIT, now with only one course and the capstone exam left.

I am also in the final year of a Computer Science Bachelors (BSc) program at The Open University.

While these academic pursuits take up much of my time, I still try to make room for language learning and a variety of professional courses.

Development Projects

— Unit Converter application

This project was my first standalone endeavor. Prior to this, I focused on smaller challenges, either those included in online courses or inspired by them, as well as problems on HackerRank.

I developed a Unit Converter app using Python and Tkinter, inspired by encountering so many recipes using measuring units like cups.

The app supports six unit categories : Capacity, Mass, Length, Area, Speed, and the initial inspiration—Kitchen Units. When a category is selected, only the relevant units appear for conversion.

While the app leverages the native Windows UI and may not win any design awards, it's fully functional and serves its purpose effectively.

— Website Projects

In November and December of 2023, I dedicated some time to learning the basics of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and worked on a few small website projects.

At first, I only used them to practice with Flexbox, and then to create a basic site as part of an application for a bootcamp programme.

Since then I put this knowledge to good use in my BSc studies.

I spent quite some time on HackerRank exercises as well, originally because it was part of an interview process, and later on simply because I enjoyed it.
